I gazed around, beholding nothingness
I wept, but as I followed my tears
Saw that I stood tall in the sky
Sunday I stared out the windows at the color of canvas,
As dusk began to paint its bright red stroke,
Across the peaceful sky
I rushed down the creaky stairway,
ready to embrace the winter chill,
but the warmth of faint sunlight hugged me back
I stood and breathed, it smelled of gentle oak
And the sound of blackbirds descended heaven
Their echoes woke my bones,
I could swear that one of them said -
"Took you long enough!"
I gazed up and saw my flocking fellows, like blown sandust
And it struck me how clear the sky was, without a cloud
Then I realized they all gathered around my feet.
